1.Brief description and aims of module:

In this module you are encouraged to develop an individual artistic voice or sonic signature within the fields of artist/producer and acousmatic music composition and production.

The module aims to enable you to:

• Develop a systematic understanding of production techniques

• Develop critically and analytically informed uses in the application of commercially available audio hardware and software

• Advance compositional approaches relating to sophisticated sound design and audio processing techniques

2.Outline syllabus:

The module introduces key concepts and principles related to artist/producer and acousmatic music composition.

Module content areas include:

• Advanced Production techniques

• Production identity and signature

• Composition and music analysis

• Acousmatic music and musique concrète

• Sound processing and transformation

3.Teaching and learning activities:

The module will be delivered as a combination of lead lectures and related workshop activities as well as weekly seminars. You will be guided towards the completion of a draft audio submission, on which you will receive feedback to assist you towards final submission. You will also benefit from group and individual tutorial support as well as allocated studio time.
