1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module is based around an international field course that will give students direct experience of ecosystems and human-wildlife interactions that they may not have experienced before. Field teaching will be conducted by Bath Spa lecturers and/or local experts. Exact activities will depend on the location. Assessments will be submitted during the semester following the field trip (Semester 1 at level 6). Where possible students will be actively involved in planning and delivery of the field trip, thereby encouraging creativity and enabling student empowerment for their learning through common experience and responsibility.
2. Outline syllabus
Example topics include:
● Measuring Animal Behaviour in the wild
● Surveying for/identifying species presence
● Working with local stakeholders
● Identifying human impacts on wildlife
● Monitoring change in populations/environment
3. Teaching and learning activities
In the field, you will undertake a mixture of staff-led orientation and introductory field lectures along with student project work. Teaching will be provided through guided field work with guidance given by Bath Spa lecturers and/or local experts. Assessments will be completed following the field course during the semester.
