1. Brief description and aims of module:
Animal behaviour is a wide-ranging and important characteristic of all animal species. This module explores some important aspects of animal behaviour with a focus on behavioural ecology and animal decision making.
2. Outline syllabus
Responses of animals to environmental factors are considered in both natural and laboratory conditions. The enables you to understand why animals behave in particular ways as a result of perception and behavioural constraints with practical applications in animal welfare and wildlife conservation.
3. Teaching and learning activities
Some sessions are more lecture-based, focussing on important aspects of animal behaviour such as the development of behaviour, communication, social behaviour and mating. In addition, some sessions help support group-based behavioural projects which help develop practical skills.
