1. Brief description and aims of module:
This optional module builds on module ACT5025-20 by exploring the wider range of career opportunities you can explore as an actor within the creative arts industry. The module aims are to:
Provide you with opportunities to broaden your creative portfolio
Foster individual knowledge, strategies and processes for projects and promotion
Extend your understanding and practical application of performing in, and creating, your own projects
2. Outline syllabus:
Actors can boast many artistic and transferable skills upon which they can draw to broaden their employment opportunities, this module enables you to explore them to develop a portfolio of roles to support your work as an actor. For example, you might consider theatre making, directing, writing, producing, or working across a broader range of projects such as role play in professional training scenarios, presenting, voice-over work, or stand up comedy, this module gives you the opportunity to experiment in those areas working with colleagues and across a range of projects.
Supported by Bath Spa Productions and the wider university, this module encourages you to find projects and develop them. It also offers you the opportunity to explore subjects for postgraduate study, or an enterprise initiative to develop after graduation.
3. Teaching and learning activities:
This module encourages you to develop your own creative projects and will provide project guidance and support, for instance (but not confined to), support in writing a stand up set, or tuition in acting for microphone. It will also support your learning by helping to link you to live projects that will vary from year to year and so encourage you to acquire an understanding of recognising opportunities for development.
The module facilitates and supports your project ideas and provides you with strategies to manage your projects, culminating in the submission of a portfolio of work, which you will have agreed with your tutors in the initial stages of the module
