1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module continues the exploration of how, as an actor, you can generate your own material both as a creative outlet for your work, but also as a means of enterprise. This module aims to:
Provide a festival platform to showcase your work
Encourage your ability to develop independently produced work
Foster your understanding of the need for personal enterprise when developing a freelance creative career
2. Outline syllabus:
Whether the work you create is live, mediated or digital, this module encourages you to regard the generation of your own work examples of the enterprise required of a freelance professional career. Working as part of a team to create a sit-com, devising a new piece of theatre, or choosing to interpret an extant text in a new way, are just some of the ways professional actors facilitate their access to work. This module provides you with a festival platform (live and digital) to showcase the work you create.
3. Teaching and learning activities:
To facilitate your work in this module, staff will use relevant lectures, practical sessions, input from professional practitioners and tutorials to guide your development of work.
The module culminates in the public presentation of the work you have created through Sparkfest - the Bath Spa Productions Theatre, Dance and Music Festival.
