1.Brief description and aims of module
This module responds to the potential offered by non-theatre performance locations, and draws upon collaborative opportunities to work with artists and students studying other Bath Spa courses to construct cross-disciplinary performance work that responds to a ‘site’ of your own choosing. Work may be submitted live or as a film. This module aims to:
2.Outline syllabus
Investigations into the potential of an ‘assembly of texts’ forms a key element to this module. Drawing on site, choreography, sound, and other art forms, an understanding of the impact upon individual texts when layered against one another, will be central your own creative process in the construction of a major performance work. Work for this module may be consider ‘screen’ as performance site.
In addition to the creative aspect of this project you will be expected to negotiate, if relevant, with your chosen site’s stakeholders and deal with all issues relating to health and safety and performance management.
Working with another artist or artists, this module requires you to design and produce a site-specific performance. The site, which may be one chosen by you, must be considered from all practical aspects of a public performance and an on-line journal should evidence your project management and evaluation in this respect.
3.Teaching and learning activities
The module utilises workshop sessions, rehearsals and tutorials to support your work, but aims to focus you upon responding to the ‘site’ you choose for the work.
