1.Brief description and aims of module
This module will explore visual, sequential narrative. You will look at the relationship between text and image and visual ways of telling stories including illustration styles, page design and layout, and the use of sequential images.
The main focus of this module will be picturebooks. The pre-school and picturebook sector is a thriving part of the children's publishing industry, with approx. 10,000 new titles being published each year in the UK alone. The global picturebook market, books in translation, international rights and licencing will also be examined in this module.
You will develop a systematic understanding of the global children's picturebook market and produce a prototype new picturebook and body of supporting documentation.
