1.Brief description and aims of module
This is a studio practice module in which you produce work based upon a written proposal negotiated and agreed with module tutor and which, building on AR7001-30 and MF7002-30, develops studio work and awareness and understanding of relevant concept and methods involved in work’s production.
2.Outline syllabus
In this module you will be encouraged to pay greater attention to the exhibition and dissemination element of your practice and to test finished resolution not only of individual works in isolation but as a group of works relating positively to each other in appropriate exhibition/project settings.
During MF7003-30 you will have regular two weekly meetings with your tutor to help you develop what you began in the MF7002-30 module, which is further supported by your negotiated proposal at the start of the module. You may be directed to have further tutorials with subject specific staff. You will also be encouraged to sign up for tutorials with regular and visiting staff via the MA Fine Art Google tutorial sign up sheet. From most tutorials there will be advice for further private study on your part. This may be to enhance your conceptual, contextual or technical knowledge and development. There is one studio critique during the module. This critique is carefully structured to enable you to experience differing modes of analysis of your practice, situate it in a contemporary (and historic) context and begin to establish a language by which you can discuss your work as it progresses on the course. Your ownership of your work and its meaning/s, your ability to discuss this with your peer group will be more developed than in MF7002-30 and your role in the critique therefore a more active one. You will be supported in the writing of a statement reflecting on your practice for the assessment at the end of the module in a form of statement feedback tutorials with your module tutor.
