1.Brief description and aims of module
The placement module consists of approximately twenty-five days spent working in or with one or more heritage or related organisations. Full-time students complete their placement in Trimester Two; part-time students in Trimester One of their second year of study. The allocation and distribution of the twenty-five days within these timeframes is a matter for negotiation between the placement organisation/s and the student.
The placement provides a variety of different opportunities, in line with your own ambitions, previous experience, existing skills and the identification of areas for personal and professional development.
In addition to completing the agreed programme of work, students are expected to research their placement organisation/s and to set this against a background of external challenges, threats and opportunities.
2.Outline syllabus
Your placement may involve work on a defined project or a range of different activities, as agreed with your host organisation/s. You should seek out opportunities to observe, shadow and / or sit in on meetings, other projects and related activities, throughout the placement period.
