1. Brief description and aims of module
This module builds on modules FM7001 and FM7002 to give students the ability to further develop/refine their project. They will learn to deal with Health and Safety matters, Risk assessments, legal issues, as well as more advanced creative decisions. This module will also allow for the specific requirements of each project. For example, a documentary project may need assistance in locating and negotiating archive licenses, while a drama project may require a script editor or a dialogue polish. Students will learn how to schedule, cast, recruit and negotiate, and should have a project ready for principal photography.

Topics covered may include:
• Script breakdown
• Casting
• Costing and scheduling using production software like Movie Magic
• Crafting a cinematic look on a low budget
• Making the script fit your budget
• Working collaboratively and the roles and responsibilities of the team.
• Presentation & leadership skills for low budget feature films.
• Legal issues – avoiding the pitfalls of feature film production.
• Creative Entrepreneurship – making deals.
• Understand Health and safety requirements – the hazard assessment.
• Negotiating skills to deal with crew, agents and locations.
