1.Brief description and aims of module
This module gives you the opportunity to pursue an area of study of your own choice to a high level. You can opt for either a ‘traditional’ written Dissertation of 12,000 words or design a Project of equivalent weight. The Project option offers you the opportunity to create a different kind of applied research project, such as designing and making an electronic or online research resource, working with a local agency or employer to research and develop a new service or area of interest.
2.Outline syllabus
The dissertation will require students to pursue a detailed research project in discussion with course tutors before submitting a proposal. It is at this point that a supervisor will be assigned. If required, a team of two supervisors can be assigned and the supervisory hours will be allocated accordingly; and in the case of applied research projects it is possible to include an external supervisor or advisor with relevant experience of the field or industry.
3.Teaching and learning activities
