1.Brief description and aims of module
The aim of this course module is to facilitate you in the development of your knowledge and understanding of your clinical practice by focusing on a central aspect of therapeutic work relating it to ethical awareness. It gives an opportunity to evaluate, discuss and consider detailed aspects of clinical work particularly linked to ethical dilemmas or to a legal issue or concern, and how this might impact on counselling. The subject of this module is decided in consultation with the supervisor.
It can contribute credits towards either the PG Cert, PG Dip or towards the MA.
2.Outline syllabus
This module will be based on independent learning, together with individual tutorials to allow the module tutor to support and give guidance on the selection of an appropriate topic, confirm the necessary learning outcomes, agree specific criteria and guide you through your learning. Over the course of this module you are encouraged to have at least four tutorials with your supervisor. This could be face-to face, via telephone, Skype or email. There will also be webinars/online seminars available. Contact could be individual or in groups.
3.Teaching and learning activities
Delivery and support will be via our Virtual Learning Environment “Minerva”.
We recommend that for this module, you devote at least 9.5 hours per week on private independent study.
