1.Brief description and aims of module
This module explores the ways in which transnational and international crime is challenging, influencing and shaping national and international criminal justice systems, as well as law enforcement policies and strategies. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of how global crime such as terrorism; cybercrime; illegal trafficking; financial crime; environmental crime; and crimes against humanity are in different ways highlighting the limits of existing national and international criminal justice systems. The module will provide the opportunity to critically examine existing and emerging national and international law enforcement and regulatory strategies, including demands for international policing. Moreover, you will critically engage with identifying solutions to existing as well as new and emergent forms of international and transnational crime in national and international criminal justice arenas. The module encourages you to develop a critical and comparative perspective that transcends national boundaries, and that understands the links between national and global crime and policy contexts.
