Research Methods aims to develop cognitive and communicational skills related to delivering rigorous and intellectually sound research. The module covers all key steps including setting aims, identifying and deploying appropriate research methods and instruments, gaining ethical approval, and articulating your research.
You begin by comparing various forms of research found in both academic and industrial settings. Focus then shifts to specific and predetermined research topics that are situated in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). From here you carry out a short study with a data collection component that evolves over the course of the module. The primary output of Research Methods is a research paper that adheres to a recognised authoring template and is written using professional formatting and typesetting tools.
