1.Brief description and aims of module

This module is an advanced learning of international business practice and management in the context of the dynamic, comprehensive and complex nature of this topic. The module provides a critical understanding of the topics that are relevant to international business skills and international management theories with embedded view of appreciating cultural differences and business ethics and corporate social responsibility.

This module aims to develop student’s analytical skills of the essential principles of international business and management especially those relating to the initial stages of involvement in international business. It examines the decisions that have to be taken by international managers from an integrated functional perspective, against the dynamic global environment in which those decisions are made.

In this module, you will be able to demonstrate the following Graduate Attribute:

• Employable: equipped with the skills necessary to flourish in the global workplace, able to work in, and lead, teams;
• Internationally networked: studying abroad for part of their programme, or studying alongside students from overseas;
• Critical thinkers: able to express their ideas in written and oral form, and possessing information literacy;

2.Outline syllabus

This module covers the following key topics-

• International organisation design and control
• International strategic management
• Strategies for analysing and entering foreign markets
• Managing international business operations

3.Teaching and learning activities

- Teaching activities – lectures, seminars, guest speakers, open lectures

- Learning activities – lecture, seminar, group work, tutorials, formative tasks, summative assessments and self-study

Where appropriate additional selected readings designed to support learning and understanding will be presented as the module develops.
