1.Brief description and aims of module
This module introduces the key developments in arts management and the creation of arts and cultural policy in the 21st century. The module explores the varied skills and knowledge required to in managing the arts, and encourages you to engage critically with arts management and cultural policy in relation to wider economic, political and social contexts.
The module considers the formulation of arts and cultural policy in the UK, Europe and abroad; the changing methods of arts administration; the importance of arts education and community engagement; regeneration through arts and culture, arts diversity and social inclusion; and the role of the arts in national and cultural identity.

This module is taught by a mixture of tutor-led seminars, lectures and practical workshops with sector practitioners, student-led presentations and discussion, and field trips to arts and cultural organisation.
