You must follow the order of operations to solve expressions correctly. Make sure to show your work (Pizza Slices)
To simplify an expression, combine the terms that are on the "same team"--they have the same variable and exponent
When you are given a value for the variable, you can substitute and solve the expression using the order of operations.
Look for key words
"a number" means there is a variable
Look for numbers
A solution is a number or set of numbers that makes the equation true
For an equation to be 'true' the left side must equal the right side of the equal sign.
To solve an equation is to find the value/number that makes the equation 'true'. You want to find the number that the variable(letter) represents.
To solve an equation, 'undo' what is being done to the variable. Example: x + 4.5 = 25.67
To solve, subtract 4.5 from BOTH sides.
X = 21.17
**Always remember to check your work
21.17 + 4.5 = 25.67 (both sides are equal :) )
