STEPS:

1. Line up the decimal points and place values

2. Add place holder zeros where needed

3. Add or Subtract as normal

4. Bring the decimal stragiht down in your answer

1. Line up the digits--NOT the decimals

2. Multiply as normal

3. Count the number of decimal places in the numbers you multiplied, you need the same number of decimal places in your answer.

Long division with whole numbers

STEPS:

1. Are there decimals in the divisor??

2. If there are, make the divisor a whole number by moving the decimal all the way to the right, then move the decimal in the dividend the SAME number of places.

3. Move the decimal up into your quotient

4. Divide as normal

5. If you have a reminder--add zeros to bring down and keep dividing

6. You may need to round your answer if it keeps going on forever
