Note: Drive will create the document in your current location. Make sure your current location is in the folder you want the document to be.
Google Docs - to create and edit text documents directly in your browser
Google Sheets - to create data models using spreadsheet
Google Slides - to create and edit presentations directly in your browser
Several people can work at the same time, and every change is saved automatically.
It is best to give a meaningful name to your files.
The new document (Docs, Sheets or Slides) are private by default, but from the Share button, you can choose to make your documents visible to certain people.
To see your current share setting when you have a document open , simply hover over the Share button at the top right of your document.
A popover will show the current document privacy, which will always be private by default.
To change the setting, click on the Share button. The Share with others screen appears.
Type the names of people from your contact list or the email addresses of people you wish to share the document with
There are three Collaborator Options:
Viewer - allows others to see a document only and would not be able to change the document in any way
Note: By setting the Collaborator option to viewer, collaborators will be forced to make a copy of the document in order to make changes, thus ensuring that no one be able to alter the initial document directly.
Commenter - allows others to see the document and make comments, but would not be able to change the document in any way
Editor - allows others people to edit the document. Collaborators can work in a document simultaneously in real-time, so there is no need to email changes back and forth. Each editor who is working in the document will be visible as icons at the top right of the screen, next to the Comments button.
It is possible to convert Microsoft document into Google ones

Process to convert a Microsoft file:
Open a Google Document.
Name the Google Document in the top left corner.
Click File (under the name of the file).
Select Open.
In the new dialogue box, click Upload and Select a file from your device (blue icon in the middle).
Select the file on your computer device.
Click Open in the bottom right corner.
Google Docs converts the MS document and display it.
