There's a Place for You in the PTU!

St. Barnabas PTU (Parent Teacher Unit) is a group of volunteers who share their time and talents to enhance our children’s educational experience and strengthen our school community. Whether you can lend a hand for an hour, help behind the scenes, or take on a larger role with one of our events or programs, there's a place for you in the PTU! Book Fair

Chairs: Kim Fletcher, Teri Kolo, & Bridget Cibella

An annual fundraiser to foster the love of reading! Students and families can browse and shop for books, to support providing new materials in our school library and classrooms.

Book Store

Chair: Cara Beard

A fun shopping experience for students, offering affordable items and school supplies throughout the year on select mornings beginning mid-fall.

Career Day

Chair: Jesssica Endress

Community members and parents share their professions, inspiring St. Barnabas junior high students to explore future career paths.

Catholic Schools Week

Chair: Erin Supan

A week-long celebration filled with activities that honor our faith, school spirit, and community. The PTU treats our staff to a meal and provides "thank-yous" to our bus drivers.

Field Day

Chairs: Halli Evans, Bridget Cibella, & Michelle Fontanet

Field Day is a day of outdoor games, team challenges, and friendly competition for all students. The PTU sponsors lunch and volunteers to help set up and run the stations.

Field Trips

PTU offsets the cost of many field trips so students can participate in hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom that connect lessons to the real world.

Volunteers will be requested by teachers at a later date, as needed.

Family Events

Donuts with Grown-Ups (Chair: Madeline Spond) - Students enjoy a special breakfast treat with their parents, grandparents, or loved ones before school.

Family Movie Night (Chair: Lindsay Crow) - An evening of family fun watching a movie together at school, complete with snacks and community spirit.

Father- Daughter Dance (Chair: Lindsay Crow & Mackenzie Adzima) - A memorable evening for dads and daughters to enjoy music, dancing, and fun together.

Ginger Bread House Event (Chair: Jeanne Smerekovsky) - Families design and decorate gingerbread creations to show off their holiday spirit and creativity.

Mother-Son Event (Chair: George Wolozyn) - A special event designed for moms and sons to spend quality time together in a fun setting

First Communion Celebration

Chairs: Kalyn Seislove & Lauren Laboda

First Holy Communion is a beautiful milestone in a child's faith journey, and the PTU is honored to help make the day even more special.

Following the school First Holy Communion Mass, the PTU hosts a light reception for our First Communicants and their families. Guests are invited to enjoy refreshments, celebrate together, and capture the moment with a special photo opportunity to commemorate this memorable occasion.

Grateful Goodies

Chair: Christin Uhl

The Grateful Goodies Gang is a way to show our gratitude for the passion our teachers and staff pour into their work and our kiddos every single day! Once a month we surprise these hard workers with a "goodie!" This can be simple like a "Thanks a Lotto" lotto ticket or more elaborate like a "Taco Bout Appreciation" lunch! Our SBS staff are always grateful for the goodie!

PreK & K Meet and Greet Picnic

Chairs: Lindsay Crow & Mackenzie Adzima

Starting in 2026, the PTU is excited to welcome our newest St. Barnabas families with a Summer Meet & Greet just for incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students and their families!

This fun, casual event is the perfect opportunity to meet other new families, make new friends, and get to know our welcoming school community before the first day of school. Current St. Barnabas parents and PTU members will be there to answer questions, share helpful tips, and help you feel right at home.

Monsters Game

Chair: Leslie Johnson

An exciting school community outing to cheer on the Cleveland Monsters hockey team during Catholic Schools Week! It also serves as a fundraiser to support PTU events!

Mum Sale

Chair: Julia Mellon

A seasonal flower sale that brings color to our homes and raises funds for school programs.

Teacher Appreciation

Chairs: Joanne Post & Jeanne Smekerovsky

We provide treats throughout the year to our teachers and staff! From breakfast, lunch, and dinner to a whole week of gratitude and celebrations to honor their hard work and dedication to our students.

Santa's Workshop

Chairs: Jenny Barker, Chrissy Piazza, Gina Kubec

Students shop for holiday gifts for family and friends in a festive, child-friendly store set up at school.

Scholarships

Funds raised through school events and generous donations help make our student scholarships possible, allowing us to recognize and support our graduating eighth graders.

School Supplies

Chair: Halli Evans

Pre-packaged school supply kits are made available for purchase, making back-to-school shopping simple and convenient.

Sunshine Squad

Chair: Meghan Briggs

The PTU Sunshine Squad was established to support St. Barnabas families in times of need. If you know of someone who could use some sunshine, please reach out to us!

Uniform Exchange

Chairs: Colleena Wharton & Erin Supan

Families can donate and exchange gently used school uniforms, making this a budget-friendly and sustainable option. Exchanges happen multiple times throughout the year.

8th Grade Graduation Reception

Chair: Christin Uhl

Each spring, PTU helps support the 8th grade graduation reception, celebrating our graduating students and giving them a memorable send-off from the St. Barnabas School community.
