Welcome to the club traning page! For anyone interested in going through our leader training (or who want to learn more about saftey and navigation in the mountains) attached below are the copys of the traning slides for Leader traning and our Mountain skills sessons. Feel free to have a look at these before undertaking leader traning, or for review after you have completed it.
Leader training is run several times throughout the academic year, typically on Friday evenings alongside route planning, and is made of three presentations. The training is open to anyone who is interested, and we highly encourage members to attend. The content of the training is derived from the Mountain Leader qualification. Anyone who attends at least one session becomes a trainee, and will be given the chance to assist leaders on walks and may gain access to certain events and training sessions not offered to general members. Those wishing to become leaders must attend all three sessions and will then get the chance to lead an assessment walk with one of the comittee or senior leaders.
Member mountain skills training is something we started last year. This will be open to all members of any ability to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to be able to safely navigate on your own adventures in the mountains. More details along with dates will be released througout the year.
Alongside Mountain skills and leader training we also occasionally run other training sessions for theings like night navigation*, first aid*, basic rescue skills, and hopefully a winter skills session*(weather dependant).
*Priority goes to our trainees and leaders, though occasional spots may be open to members .
