Favourite Club Walk: Creigiau Gleision

Hi, I’m Charlotte, an avid walker who has grown up in and around the Peak District! I’ve been with UMWC for pretty much my entire time at Bangor, and I’m proud to be one of the club’s senior leaders, even with my reputation as the person who fell in a river in the middle of January! Despite my clumsiness, I am a person who absolutely adores the outdoors and anything green; you’ll often hear me commenting quite loudly on a mossy rock or two. The mountains have been a place of great inspiration for me creatively, so I always find meeting likeminded people within UMWC very refreshing!

As your captain, I’m responsible for keeping the club machine well-oiled and running smoothly. I chair our weekly committee meetings, making sure the committee’s tasks are delegated fairly and efficiently, alongside liaising with the Student Union and other outside parties on the club’s behalf. Favourite Club Walk: The 4 Lakes

Hi, I’m Joe and I’ve spent much of the last 10 years exploring the mountainous regions of the UK and have spent most of the last 3 getting blown about the mountains of Eryri with the walking club. I am approaching 100 club walks, almost all of them as a walk leader, and this will be my third year on committee, having previously held the roles of Gear & Safety and most recently Club Captain. I enjoy long sunny walks but am more than happy to go out on wet and windy trips.

Our Vice captains is the coordinators of the committee, with half of their job being to make sure the Captain doesn’t cry.

Favourite Club Walk: The Glyders

Hi, I’m Ben, and I've spent most of my life in the great outdoors walking in the mountains and valleys. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Lake District, 6 months ski mountaineering in Japan, and have now settled into uni life walking with UMWC. I greatly enjoyed my first year as a senior walk leader, meeting new people and engaging with avid hikers. You’ll find me out making memories in all weather conditions, but my favourite walks are those encased in snow. 

As Gear and Safety, I am responsible for managing club equipment including equipment loans and supplying each of the weekly walks with the appropriate kit. I am also responsible for risk assessments and making sure the walks are safe and vetted. Our gear and safty knows a thing or two about gear and safety, and they love to share their knowledge so they're the person to ask if you want to know about equipment, maps and borrowing kit from the club.

Hello, I'm Alex. I love getting outdoors, and exploring the hills, mountains, and coasts around North Wales. I joined this society last year, and wanted to be a leader at the first opportunity. As training-officer, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with anyone who wants to improve their confidence when out hiking, or wants to become a walk leader. Hi, I’m Phoebee and I’ve always had an affinity the outdoors and the natural world with some of my fondest memories being the camping trips I used to go on with my family. Since joining the club in my foundation year, I have attended most lowland walks and a hand full of mountain and chill hill walks. This has given me a greater fondness for the natural beauty of North Wales.

Hi, I'm Josh, avid hiker and ex captain of UMWC. I'll be returning after a year abroad to serve as your treasurer. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting those of you who don't know me yet. This club has played a massive role in my time at bangor so far and I love getting to hang out with other people who are as passionate about the mountains as I am.

Hello, I am Joshua and I am somebody who walks regularly in general and has spent one and a half years In UMWC. As somebody who enjoys exploring historical places and therapeutic walking, North Wales is the suitable place for me.

As Inclusivity and Wellbeing, my responsibility is to ensure that UMWC is continued to be maintained as a safe and comfortable place. As well as handling reports/complaints, I ensure to liaise with Committee/leaders/members to ensure that the club has the best impact on wellbeing.
