NASA is helping to develop and boost our economy with different ways of technology.
“Technologies and missions we develop for human spaceflight have thousands of applications on Earth, boosting the economy, creating new career paths, and advancing everyday technologies all around us” (NASA).
The way that NASA improved the quality of technology was a major turning point for not only NASA as an organization but as it was a major turning point for the world.
NASA wanted to find younger people to hire to be a part of crews and the behind the scenes jobs so that they would hopefully want to work longer and risk their lives but putting them on the line, and those types of people were hard to find.
“We had to hire more astronauts. There were a lot of things that had to be done. Human spaceflight. Also when NASA was formed, a lot of people thought it was a fad. Someone, Hugh Dryden, for instance likened it to shooting a lady out of a cannon. A lot of people who worked for the space task group were very young. We’ve interviewed a lot of people who talked about how they were discouraged by their mentors at Langley from taking positions with the space task group because they said. When human spaceflight is done, you’re not going to have a job back here. So they really tried to discourage them from taking those jobs” (Dr. Jennifer Ross-Nazzal).
When there aren't any other spaceflight jobs available the astronauts aren't gonna have any jobs. Jobs nowadays are really hard to find, but not only that, trying to find good people who are gonna work hard and are willing to work to the best of their abilities.
