The government is try to protect African Americans so they have rights.
”Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts argued that emancipation must lead to full social equality. In 1870 Sumner introduced a new civil rights bill to provide African Americans with equal access to such public accommodations as churches, theaters, trains, ships, jury boxes, and—most importantly—public schools…. The Senate passed it in June, the House of Representatives concurred the following February, and President Ulysses Grant signed the bill into law in March of 1875” (UNITED STATES SENATE).
The bill was passed but it didn’t make it a legal for integration . Then they looked at the bill again and said that the law was unconstitutional. This is a fail because the government did not want to protect rights of the African people. The government decided protecting the African Americans rights shouldn’t be in the law of rights for them. They had the law to protect African-Americans but they did not put in rights for the African Americans in the law.
The people can’t solve African Americans rights during the civil war but it’s different now since the civil war is over.
”THE race problem can not be solved by the people in any section of the country, we are not confined to any locality or section” ( Coston).
The race problems couldn’t be solved by the people in any section of the country. The people couldn’t solve problems that was happening to African Americans.
