Balay Sofia Inc (BSI) is a young Steiner-Waldorf school that offers an education that is both healing and nurturing. In a fast-paced and hectic world, Balay Sofia creates a safe space where children can take their time to enjoy childhood, explore and revel at the world's intricacies and learn at a pace that is healthy and meaningful to them. Our teachers carry the children in their hearts and minds, and strive to prepare each child for life.

We find that the children are able to get the most of their education at Balay Sofia when the parents and family seek out the unique character of Steiner-Waldorf Education for their children, support Balay Sofia's educational goals, as well as share the school community's culture and values. As partners, these families recognize and accept the role of parents in supporting the pedagogical and community work of the school and the children enrolled.

The admissions process involves the determination by both the school and the parents that the child's needs will be met in a way that is developmentally appropriate and healthy for the child, their class or grade level, and the school community. This is applicable to both new and returning students.

To fully experience what our school offers and determine if it is the right fit for your child, the admissions process is conducted in person.

All school visits must be scheduled in advance.

A non-refundable application fee of Php 1600 is required (payment details can be found on the application form).

Submission of Requirements

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS (including returning students not enrolled from the previous year)

Please ensure that you have the following before proceeding with Admissions form:

Copy of the proof of payment for the application fee (Php 1600)
Recent 2” x 2” colored photo of your child
Copy of the child's Birth Certificate (PSA/NSO copy)
Copy of the child's latest report card with LRN and the signature of the Registrar/Principal
Recommendation and Certificate of Enrollment accomplished by the child's previous/current teacher (sent to adminoffice@balaysofia.org)

A hard copy of these will be collected before signing the enrollment contract:

Copy of the proof of payment for the application fee (Php 1600)
1 recent 1” x 1” colored I.D. picture (write the child’s name on the back)
1 recent 2” x 2” colored I.D. picture (write the child’s name on the back)
Copy of the most recent Medical Certificate and immunization papers
Original and photocopy of the child's Birth Certificate (PSA/NSO copy)
Original and photocopy of the child's latest report card with LRN and the signature of the Registrar/Principal
Recommendation and Certificate of Enrollment accomplished by the child's previous/current teacher, placed in a sealed envelope
Copy of Diagnostic Report (if applicable)
Copy of a valid ID of each parent

Step

Conversation with our Admissions Coordinator

Within two (2) working days from completion of Step 1 and 2, please expect a call from our Admissions Coordinator. This is to briefly discuss and schedule you for the next step. This would also be a good time to ask any questions you may have about BSI, the videos, and/or the enrollment process.

Student Assessment

(for incoming Grade 1 students and Grade school transferees)

This step is required only for incoming Grade School students and is conducted in person. The child assessment follows a Steiner-Waldorf approach, focusing on the child's developmental readiness rather than traditional testing. Assessments are conducted in person.

Completion of Steps 1 to 3 is required before scheduling the child assessment.

Note: Student Assessment requires a Php2000 nonrefundable fee.

Parent Interview

This step is conducted in person, and both parents are encouraged to attend. If both cannot be present, at least one parent (preferably the primary caregiver) should attend.

For incoming Kindergarten students, the teacher will also meet your child, so please bring them along.

Completion of Steps 1 to 4 is required before scheduling a Parent Interview.

Results of Application

The results will be sent via email, and a discussion between parent/s and teacher/s will be scheduled.

Enrollment

After the assessment results have been provided, the final enrollment process includes:

In person meeting to accomplish the following:
- Submission of hard copy of required documents (refer to step 3)
- Discussion and completion of the Enrollment Contract
Making the downpayment to confirm enrollment

Class orientation
First Parent Education session
