Early this week, at the historic 5th United Nations Environment Assembly, organized by the UNEP, over 12,000 science, policy, and business leaders from around the world agreed upon an urgent call for action to ensure that 2021 is the "turning point" for our planet in green recovery that puts us on a pathway towards a low carbon, resilient and inclusive post-pandemic world. Participants agreed on the importance of strengthening green solutions to achieve Sustainable Development Goals, urgent actions to make businesses more environment-friendly, and investments in a circular economy that ensures that the green recovery addresses the needs of the most vulnerable.


This has long been advocated by the Bala Vikasa International Center that believes - the path to a safe, just and equitable society can be accelerated by responsible businesses that address...

New Partnership with IMT-Hyderabad for Research and Programs to Promote Sustainability and Responsible Business Commences

As part of our mission to create symbiotic alliances between academia, businesses, and nonprofits to promote business responsibility to drive social change, we signed an MOU with the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Hyderabad last December. BVIC and IMT will undertake joint research and promote knowledge exchange on social innovation.

BVIC Invited as Sector Expert to Mentor Social Innovators and Start-Ups at Social Impact Bootcamp 2020 organized by TSIC and T-Hub

We were invited to be a partner on the 4-week Social Impact Bootcamp (SIB) 2020 organized by the Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) and T-Hub to provide mentorship to social startups and connect them to impact investors in the state. BVIC provided sector-specific mentorship and helped startups refine their pitches in the post-COVID new normal.

BVIC Shares Achievements, Explores Collaborations, and Networks with Partner Community at HCL Foundation Convergence Meet

We explored new collaborations with the partner community that participated in the HCL Foundation Convergence Meet last November. BVIC and 12 other nonprofits of the HCL Foundation Hyd Chapter and MARI shared updates on programs, achievements, and future plans. BVIC Lead Programs and Advisory, Mr Vijay Kumar Machcha, networked with the partner community.

US Consulate Supported Workshop on Comparison of American and Indian Constitutions Inspires 150 Youth from 3 States

More than 70 students from various colleges across Andhra Pradesh participated in a grand 2-Day workshop funded by US Consulate, Hyderabad, on “Comparing American and Indian Constitutions” conducted to increase awareness in marginalized youth on the shared tradition of constitutional democracy between India and the United States.

Training Session in Responsible Business, Social Entrepreneurship at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology Garners High Praise

Following our recent MOU with Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology to Promote Responsible Business and Social Entrepreneurship, we conducted a training session for 50 students and faculty members of the institute last November, to create awareness on responsible business, climate change, community development, and social entrepreneurship.

Development Professionals Laud BVIC for Providing Valuable Training in the Art of Effective Proposal Writing at Capacity-Building Workshop

We conducted a capacity-building workshop for 20 Development Professionals in Effective Proposal Writing, providing valuable knowledge and practical insights into effective proposals. Participants were confident that the new skills they acquired at BVIC training held at the PDTC in Warangal would help them effectively work toward achieving organizational funding goals.

Bala Vikasa Provides 1100+ Smartphones and Tabs to Orphans and Poor Students in Rural Telangana as COVID19 Disrupts Education

Bala Vikasa distributed 1,143 free smartphones and tabs worth over Rs 1Crore to poor orphans, widows’ children, and government school students in rural Telangana, with the support of Amazon, Sopar, Franklin Templeton, and generous individual donors, to help the children attend online classes as COVID pandemic disrupted education and forced schools and colleges to close.

Bala Vikasa Provides 100 Widows Training in Advanced Tailoring Skills to Encourage Entrepreneurship with Manos Unidas Grant

As part of a program to empower 100 poor widows under a grant from the Spanish organization Manos Unidas, Bala Vikasa has provided 100 women from 40 villages training in advanced tailoring in 6 batches of 8-day upskilling programs from last October through December. We also counseled 99 young widows and taught stress management and pain-relieving techniques.

Bala Vikasa Enters into a New Partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to Address Water Crisis in Tamil Nadu Village

Last December, Bala Vikasa signed an MOU with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to create water infrastructure and provide access to safe water for communities residing in the three areas of Kavanur village, in Arakkonam, Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. Mr R Sathish, Regional Director CII, and Bala Vikasa ED Shoury Reddy Singareddy signed the MOU.

Bala Vikasa Safe Water-Revolution Forges Full Steam Ahead Despite COVID19 Pandemic, 32 New CWPPs Inaugurated in 3 Months

We are proud to have inaugurated 32 new CWPPs, impacting 11,139 families or 55695 beneficiaries in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the 3rd quarter ending December, despite COVID19 pandemic-induced challenges. Among these was a model UF technology-based water purification plant in Gangadevipalli, aimed at reducing water wastage and saving power.

With 300th Farm Pond Excavation, Bala Vikasa Water Conservation Program Enables Rural Poor Farmers Store 12 Cr Lts Water

The 300th farm pond was excavated in Kuknoor village in Medak, as part of the Bala Vikasa Water Conservation Program, helping rural poor farmers conserve water for irrigation and additionally benefit from fish-farming. We also restored 28 borewells in Veldurthi, Kuknoor, and Uppalingapur for rainwater harvesting, to help 318 households irrigate 18 acres of farmland.

Fitness enthusiasts champion Bala Vikasa Safe Water Revolution on Impact App, Walk 21 Million Steps to Help Fund 2 Community Purification Plants

273 walking enthusiasts walked 21 Million steps, while connected to the Mumbai-based Impact Mobile App to raise funds for our Safe Water Community Water Purification Projects. Impact’s CSR partner FluentGrid sponsored the steps and committed to funding 2 CWPPs in 2 villages of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh to help marginalized fishing communities.

Marketing and Liaisoning Support Helps Organic Farmers Sell Produce for 10-15% Higher Returns, 200 New Farmers Join Program

Bala Vikasa provided marketing and liaison support to help small organic paddy farmers sell organic paddy, fine rice and vegetable produce for 10-15% higher price than the usual, even as 200 small and marginal farmers in 3 villages ….. adopted organic farming after Bala Vikasa conducted awareness and training sessions on the benefits of sustainable agriculture.

Telangana Government Seeks Bala Vikasa Proposal for Setting Up Sujal ATW Kiosks at the Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad

Telangana’s Department of Health and Family Welfare asked Bala Vikasa to submit a project proposal for setting up 6 Sujal ATWs in Osmania General Hospital at Hyderabad. Last December, Commissioner Ms Vakati Karuna, IAS, sought a plan from us to explore how Sujal ATW kiosks could provide a solution to the water needs of the poor who come to OGH.

Overwhelming Response to PDTC’s Web-Based Training Program on ‘Interpreting the Indian FCRA Amendment Act, 2020 for Nonprofits’

The People Development Training Center (PDTC) received an overwhelming response from nonprofits to our web-based training program on ‘Interpreting the FCRA Amendment Act, 2020,’ last November. PDTC, quick to adapt to the COVID19 pandemic-induced challenges, took our popular training courses online and witnessed increased participation from nonprofits globally.
