Nancy White & Keith McCandless have delightfully described the Global Gathering as making the field of our collective community & practice visible and tangible in all the splendid stages of gestation, birth, maturity, and creative destruction.
Inspired by the principles of Open Space Technology, we have designed the Global Gathering to include a mix of interaction opportunities. You can see the general overview of the schedule in the table above or by following this link.
The Global Gathering is organized in a way that's meant to amplify each person's freedom & responsibility. If something isn't going the way you want it, consider creating a session to address your need. Chances are someone else has it, too! Or, if you find yourself in a session neither learning nor contributing, take responsibility to move onto another option. It's not rude!
The idea is that every day there will be Integrated Sessions where the full group of participants experiences something together. These have been designed by invited ensembles of Liberating Structures maestros.
Mixed-in with these integrated sessions will be simultaneous Options Place offerings. Many of these have been prepared ahead of time and will feature a variety of topics and methods. Alongside these pre-planned sessions will be spontaneously proposed options. To figure out what is happening at any given time, you should consult the separate tabs in the spreadsheet or come find the physical Marketspace board located in the venue. This will reflect 'present reality' at any given moment.
To view materials from any of the sessions, you can go to the spreadsheet and view links that have been dropped into the schedule. If you are a session organizer, you can also drop your materials into the Google Drive LSGG Session Materials Folder.
Finally, there will be at least three persistent stations across the whole Global Gathering:
Logistics Station - come here to find Fisher, Anna, get supplies, print, review the Marketspace, or just hang out and get out of the fray
LS Field Guide Prototyping - Anja Ebers is organizing a sequence of sessions and a prototyping station to use the momentum of the GG to tinker with the idea of a LS Fieldguide/Practitioners’ Guide, representing the current state of our practice. GG participants as well as practitioners worldwide are invited to contribute by identifying what’s meaningful for our practice, sourcing contents, seeding discussions as well as reviewing, editing & building on each other’s ideas.
Coaching Station - Greg & Tim are working to setup a station where anyone can drop-in and get help, coaching, or design assistance from an LS maestro.
Because of the emergent nature of this structure, you will need to continuously check the Marketspace board (physical or digital) to see if any new offerings have been added.
