Submitting a Background Check
Background Check Process
A background check is required to be submitted and/or renewed for ALL AYSO Volunteers each year. Please note the $25 fee is set by default to be paid by Region 88 (but volunteers have the option to pay the fee).

Go to your www.ayso88.org and click on Login (or Register Now if you have not created an account)
Please use the "Forgot Password" if you need it reset.

Once logged in, click the (1) Volunteer tab then click (2) Find Volunteer Roles

On the Volunteer tab after logging into your account.
1) To request or renew your background check*, please click the Risk Status checkbox and click Renew & Update button.
2) Click here for background check process (Sterling Volunteers).
If you started this process and do not immediately receive an email:
Please search the Subject for: "Here's the link" (exclude the quotes) or use other terms/phrases such as: "Sterling Volunteers", "American Youth Soccer Organization", or "TheAdvocates". If you find the email and the link has expired, you must contact Sterling.
Issues with Middle Name or Middle Initial
The system may generate a message in regards to the Middle Name and may not let you continue. If you encounter this issue, select the option indicating you do not have a Middle Name (even if you do). This will allow you to successfully complete the process. We will follow-up with AYSO if this results in any issues with your Background Check.
Sterling website Login or Account Issues
If you encounter any problems logging into the Sterling website, forget your username or password and/or do not receive a reset email, please contact Sterling Support directly:

NEW **** The background check is now active for twelve (12) months and is no longer tied to the membership year (season).
Some volunteers may have had a background check completed for the past season and your background check may not be required again for one calendar year. The system will allow you to renew your background check thirty (30) days early (at 11 months) and you will receive an email reminder to renew as it approaches expiration.
