Middle school is a time of tremendous growth, change, and self-discovery, and the counseling program at AXL Academy is designed to support students through each stage of that journey. This year, there will be a greater emphasis on small group counseling as a proactive way to help students build social-emotional skills, strengthen peer connections, and develop healthy coping strategies. Counseling groups will meet once a week for one hour over the course of six weeks and may focus on topics such as anxiety, emotional regulation, friendship skills, executive functioning, self-esteem, healthy relationships, grief and loss, and other areas based on student need. In addition to groups, students will continue to receive classroom lessons, academic and career planning support, crisis intervention, and individual check-ins as appropriate.
Students also have access to Open Office Hours for brief, solution-focused support, questions, or to request additional counseling services. Appointment requests can be submitted at any time by scanning the QR codes posted outside the counseling office, in each student's Google Classroom, or by using the scheduling link available on this website. My goal is to provide every student with accessible, meaningful support while fostering the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to be successful both in school and beyond.
