At AXL Academy, Gifted and Talented (GT) services are designed to support students whose learning needs require advanced academic opportunities. Identification for gifted programming is determined through Aurora Public Schools (APS) using district-approved measures, including assessments such as the Naglieri General Ability Test (NGAT) or the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT), along with other district criteria. AXL Academy follows APS identification procedures and does not independently determine gifted eligibility.Â
As the school's Gifted and Talented Coordinator, I work closely with students, families, teachers, and the APS Gifted Education Department to ensure identified students receive appropriate support through Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), goal setting, progress monitoring, and opportunities that encourage academic challenge, creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.
