All teachers and paraeducators are issued a Chromebook upon employment. Use your AWRSD Google account to sign in to your Chromebook. The teacher device is an Acer Chromebook Spin with a touch screen and stylus, and can be folded to switch from traditional clamshell laptop mode to tablet mode. Chromebook Accessibility Features
All students are issued a Chromebook upon their enrollment in the district. Chromebooks are collected at the end of fourth grade, eighth grade, and twelfth grade and new/updated devices are issued at the beginning of kindergarten, fifth grade, and ninth grade.
K-2 Chromebooks are stored in special carts or boxes in the classroom, and may be sent home with students at the teacher's discretion. K-2 Chromebook chargers stay at school (in the storage box or cart). 3-12 students are expected to bring their fully-charged Chromebooks and chargers (just in case) back and forth between home and school daily.
All students have their own Google credentials for logging in to their Chromebooks. Student credentials typically follow this format:
<first initial><middle initial><last name>@student.awrsd.org
Student passwords can be looked up in the teacher portal.
Securly protects student Chromebooks from viruses, filters inappropriate content, and provides a variety of managements tools for teachers to use when students are working on their Chromebooks (during class time only). Options include monitoring what students are doing on their Chromebooks, pushing out websites, locking student Chromebooks to a specific website, and communicating to the whole class or individual students.
