Comfortable buses that take about 40–50 minutes to Cityterminalen, adjacent to Central Station. Ideal for travelers looking to save money. 

Most Convenient for Groups: Taxi Stockholm, Uber, or Bolt

For 2–4 people with luggage, rideshare or fixed-price taxis can be cost-effective and very convenient. Use reputable companies and confirm the fixed fare before departing. 

Getting around is easy:

Stockholm’s public transportation system is operated by SL (Stockholms Lokaltrafik) and includes:

• Metro (Tunnelbana) 

• Buses 

• Trams 

• Commuter trains 

• Selected ferries 

A single ticket is valid for 75 minutes with unlimited transfers, and 24-hour or 72-hour travelcards are often the best choice for visitors. Contactless payment and the SL app make ticket purchases simple. 

• Pay directly with a contactless credit/debit card or digital wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay).

• Purchase tickets through the SL mobile app. You can download the official Stockholm public transport app, named SL - Journey planner and tickets ("SL-Reseplanerare och biljetter"), for free from the Apple App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android

• Prefer exploring outdoors? Rent an e-bike or e-scooter using the Bolt or Voi apps. To rent and ride an electric scooter or bike using the Voi App or Bolt App, download your chosen app, create an account with a payment method, find a nearby vehicle on the map, and scan its QR code to unlock. 

Transportation Tips

1. Stay in Norrmalm, Östermalm, or near Central Station for the easiest access. 

2. Download the SL app before arrival. 

3. Use Arlanda Express if you value speed and convenience. 

4. Wear comfortable walking shoes—Stockholm is very walkable, but cobblestones are common. 

FYI: Pack layers and a light rain jacket. September temperatures are generally cool and weather can change quickly. Stockholm has an extensive and efficient public transportation network, including buses, metro (Tunnelbana), commuter trains, trams, and ferries.
