💳 Currency & Payments

Sweden uses the Swedish Krona (SEK) but don't be surprised if you never see any!  Stockholm is one of the world's most cash-free cities, so your credit card, debit card, or mobile payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) will quickly become your best travel companion. From boutique cafés and museums to taxis and market stalls, contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere.

Good to know:

• Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted.

• American Express is accepted in many places, but not all.

• There's no need to exchange large amounts of cash before you arrive.

☕ Tipping

One of the nicest surprises about Sweden? There's no tipping pressure. Service is generally included in your bill, so there's no need to calculate percentages while everyone else is waiting for the card machine.

If you've received exceptional service, rounding up the bill or leaving 5–10% is always appreciated but entirely optional. A simple "Tack!" (thank you) and a smile are just as welcome.

Late September is one of our favorite times of year and we're excited to share it with you. Expect crisp mornings, comfortable afternoons, and evenings that invite you to slow down over dinner or enjoy one more cosy café stop.

It's the perfect weather for strolling through Gamla Stan, exploring museums, taking a waterfront walk, or lingering over a cinnamon bun and coffee.

🧥 What to Pack

Think comfortable, casual, and ready for adventure. We recommend bringing:

🧥 A light jacket or sweater for cooler mornings and evenings

👟 Comfortable walking shoes, Stockholm is wonderfully walkable, and those charming cobblestones have stories to tell!

☔ A compact umbrella or lightweight rain jacket. This is Sweden, after all... a little rain simply adds character to the day.

🕶️ Sunglasses, because autumn sunshine sparkling across the water is something you won't want to miss.

📷 A camera (or plenty of phone storage!) You'll quickly discover why Stockholm is one of Europe's most photogenic capitals.

🇸🇪 A Few Local Tips

🚶 Walk like a local. Stockholm is incredibly easy to explore on foot, with beautiful neighborhoods, parks, and waterfronts around every corner.

☕ Never skip fika. Coffee and cinnamon buns aren't just a snack, they're practically a national pastime and the perfect excuse to catch up with friends.

🚰 Bring a reusable water bottle. Swedish tap water is among the cleanest in the world, and it's delicious.

🌍 Almost everyone speaks English. While you'll hear plenty of Swedish, you'll find that most people speak English. Want to impress the locals? Learn a few words like Hej (hello), Tack (thank you), and Fika (coffee break with friends).

⏰ Be on time. Swedes value punctuality, so arriving a few minutes early is always appreciated.
