We are exploring how to use Google Sheets to input data and create graphs. Here is a video to remind you how to use Google Sheets.



Explore the weather in different parts of New Zealand, collect data, compare the different towns or cities, analyse it and create a graph.

To find out about New Zealand weather you can search the NIWA website or the Met Service website.

Old Enough?

Marika is 8 years old. Her parents think she is too young to get pocket money. Marika disagrees! She surveys her friends, classmates, extended family member, and neighbours to find out what they think.

Here are her results:



Activity

You will need your chrome book and a copy of the raw data.


  1. Collate Marika's data and enter the totals in a Google Sheet like this.


  • Display the information for the children and adults as a bar graph.

  • What does the bar graph tell you? Write four statements about the graph in a Google Doc, remember to name it.

  • Create a pie graph to display the total numbers of "no" and "yes" answers.

  • What does this graph tell you? Record your thinking in your Google Doc.
