Dear Robles Bobcat Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and as excited as we are about the great start to our new school year! It has been wonderful to see all our students back in the classrooms, eager to learn, and enjoying their time here at Robles Elementary. We're off to a fantastic start, and we’re looking forward to a fun and productive year ahead.
As we settle into our routines, I want to remind everyone about the importance of regular attendance. Missing even a day of school can add up quickly. According to Arizona state requirements, students must attend at least 90% of the school year, which means they shouldn’t miss more than 10 days. Let's work together to ensure that your child is here every day, ready to learn and succeed.
Please also remember that our school day begins promptly, and students are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:46 a.m. Ensuring your child arrives on time helps them start the day with focus and sets a positive tone for the rest of their learning.
In addition to attendance, we ask for your support in helping your child complete their homework each night. Homework reinforces what is learned in the classroom and helps build good study habits. Setting aside a dedicated time and space for homework can make a big difference in your child’s academic progress. If your child struggles with any assignments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher for guidance.
We have some exciting events coming up! School pictures are scheduled for September 4th, so make sure your child is ready to smile for the camera. Additionally, teachers will be reaching out soon regarding our upcoming conferences on September 19th and 20th. These conferences are particularly important as we will be halfway through the quarter, providing an excellent opportunity to discuss your child's progress. We are conducting Student-Led Conferences, where your child will present their work and share their achievements with you. It’s essential that you bring your student to the conference, so they can take pride in showing you all they’ve accomplished.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are excited about the year ahead and all the wonderful things we will achieve together.
Warm regards,

Kindergarten Friendly Update
from Ms. Chienna Gelantaga-an and Ms. Andrea Rubio
Can you believe it? It’s already been a month since we started school! Our little Kinder friends are beginning to bond with their new classmates, and it's wonderful to see their behavior evolving from being shy to becoming more friendly. They’ve made written promises to uphold the rules and commit to being respectful and responsible students at school.
We are also working on our rug rules, such as raising hands to ask for permission and using hand signals for going to the restroom and getting a drink of water. With our new departmentalized setup, we’re steadily improving each day in managing class transitions, classroom rules, and switching between subjects.
In reading, we've kicked off with letter recognition and sounds for letters A to E, and we've also enjoyed some engaging read-aloud stories. Our Kinder friends are so captivated by these stories that they keep asking endless questions and sharing their own answers. But there is so much more to come!
Our Kinder Bobcats are learning all about our R.O.A.R expectations that we have implemented in our school.
R- Respect
O- Open- Minded
A- Accountable
R- Respectful
We cannot be more excited to say that we have so many tools for our kiddos. Introducing our Reading Program SIPPS during our reteach and enrichment hour. This program is designed to assist students who struggle with reading. It is designed to help from letter recognition to reading comprehension. It allows us to fill in the gaps that many children may have. This is a program we are beyond excited to push through! With this we are confident that our kinder friends will learn to read and will be ready for 1st grade!
During our Reading and Math blocks, we implement centers. Centers give students the opportunity to self-direct as they apply skills and strategies in fun, and engaging ways. It also allows us to accommodate different learning styles that children have. Finally, centers allow teachers to address the distinct needs of small groups of students.
As we continue using Imagine Learning as our Math Curriculum, students are stimulated to range over with the different kinds of manipulatives, students are amused on how they can use different tools in building different shapes and using counters to count. Kinder bobcats are able to think through the number sense that encourages them to think outside the box in solving simple grade level Math problems.
While students are starting with Math and Reading, they also learned about their five senses and their importance in our daily lives. Additionally, they are discovering how to be responsible, respectful, and fair both at school and in their community. They are beginning to grasp the rules and routines needed to help us stay more organized each day. Students’ interests are more driven as they explore the things that they actually see everyday and tell something about it themselves.
Moreover, students are having fun while learning, which we believe is an essential part of being a Kindergarten as we unveil each of our students’ potential. We are so excited to be part of our kindergarten Bobcats. As the students show their eagerness and excitement about being in school ready to learn. I hear many students tell me “I want to learn to read!” It is the fuel and inspiration teachers need!
