Welcome Bobcat Families to the 2022-2023 school year! We are so excited to be a partner with you in your students’ education. I am Ms. Gunn-Ader, the new and very proud principal. We are off to a great start this year. It is great to have all the smiling students back on campus.
We are excited to be welcoming some new staff this year, Ms. Baum in Exceptional Student Services, Ms. Casulla, and Ms. Lennor in 2nd grade, Mrs. Pedrego in Kindergarten. Mrs. Hinkle the 4th grade paraprofessional. Mrs. Bryant and Mr. Bojorquez in the 5th grade.
We also have many new things that will be happening this year.
Your morning 21st Century program started on Aug. 29th, students can be dropped off at the campus at 7:30 am.
We have been selected to be part of the Scholastics United States of Reader program. This program provides free books to every student. You will see book brochures come home five times this school year, starting in September. There will be no prices as they are free and every student will be able to pick a book. I know that our students will be very excited to pick their books.
We have completed the Pre-Test Benchmarks for students and the DIBELS assessments, you will see information coming home from the teachers about your student’s levels. In addition, we are using a new reading program to support students who are struggling in reading. Every student completed a placement for this program and was assigned to a level. This program will be a great support to our students. Students who tested at or above grade level will receive enrichment activities.
We look forward to a great year! Please join us for Conferences September 15th and 16th. Your child’s teacher will reach out to schedule a time for you to meet with them. We will see you then!
Sincerely,
Dustie Gunn-Ader
Robles Principal
Welcome to 5th Grade
The day has finally arrived when you are part of the oldest students on campus, 5th grade! Being in 5th grade this year will be a wonderful journey with Mrs. Bryant and Mr. Bojorquez. 5th grade splits their day between math and science and ELA and social studies, to help prepare the student for the increased class changes they will have in middle school. Today they are the superstars on campus, the leaders that show everyone that they are ready for middle school as the year progresses. Welcome to this fun 5th grade year, that will be meaningful and memorable, as your last year at Robles.
5th Grade English Language Arts/Social Studies
This quarter, we will be working on memorizing all 46 presidents, our 50 states and capitals and where each state is located on the map, history statements about the American Revolution, Sections of our Industrial Age timeline as well as Grammar statements and rules. We will be learning about the government and how it is organized. We will learn how to write informative and persuasive texts while studying the American Revolution. Expect your kids to come home with lots and lots of songs!
5th Grade Math and Science
In math and science, kids will be working on if they can add, subtract, multiply, and divide basics then with decimals the first quarter. Homework is to memorize math facts they do not know. They each have personal facts they need to learn in a sandwich bag. In science, they will be working on the movement of the Earth and Moon as it relates to our Sun. Subtopics will be how the moon affects Earth, how we have night/day and seasons of the year. After the first week homework will be multiplication facts and adding or subtracting without or with decimals depending on your kids individual needs.
