Dear Robles Bobcat Families,
We’re excited to share updates and important information as we enter October. Please take a few moments to read through and stay informed about our school’s expectations and upcoming events.
Arizona’s Move on When Reading Requirements
As part of Arizona’s state law, it’s important that all students are reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. Students who do not meet these reading benchmarks may be retained unless they qualify for an exemption. We are working hard to support our students, and we encourage families to be engaged in this process by reading with your child every night. Together, we can ensure that each student is successful.
Attendance and Tutoring Requirements
Attendance is vital to student success. When students miss school, they miss out on valuable learning opportunities. Robles students who miss more than 9 days of school will be assigned required tutoring hours in accordance with our School Expectations Plan, which was sent home at the beginning of the year. Please help us ensure that your child is in school every day, ready to learn.
Grandparents Day Luncheon
We had an amazing turnout for our Grandparents Day Luncheon! We give a heartfelt thank you to the 108 guests who joined us for this event. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Our students truly enjoyed the special time they spent with their grandparents, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event.
Parking Lot Safety
A quick reminder to all our families, please take your time and show caution in the parking lot. Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. Please watch for students as they unload and cross the parking lot, both in the morning and afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support! Let’s make this October a month of learning, growth, and community at Robles Elementary.
Homework: Building Skills at Home
Parents, we can’t stress enough how important it is for students to complete their homework each night. Regular practice is essential to developing key skills. Here’s a breakdown of the math skills each grade level is focusing on:
Kinder: Counting
1st Grade: Adding
2nd Grade: Subtraction
3rd Grade: Multiplication
4th Grade: Division
5th Grade: Mixed Math Facts
In addition to math, students should practice their reading skills every evening. Your support at home is crucial in reinforcing what they learn in the classroom.
Sincerely,
Dustie Gunn, MAED, MBA

Fourth Grade News:
What Students Will Learn This Year
By: Mrs. Dowell and Mr. Ramos
In fourth grade this year at Robles Elementary School, students are diving deep into a variety of exciting subjects that are expanding their knowledge and skills across different disciplines.
English Language Arts: Our focus has shifted from simply learning to read to mastering reading comprehension skills. Students are actively analyzing point of view, identifying main ideas, and understanding text and graphic features in informational texts. They are also honing their writing abilities, crafting more complex sentences with vivid language and learning to effectively structure paragraphs. Through engaging activities and assessments, students are applying these skills to enhance their reading comprehension and writing proficiency.
Mathematics: The math curriculum this year has been both challenging and rewarding. Students will explore a wide range of topics including measurements, area, perimeter, and multi-digit mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and long division. Geometry has been a fascinating area of study where students will learn to measure angles, identify different types of lines, and classify triangles. Currently, we are delving into fractions, discovering equivalents, comparing their sizes, and performing mathematical operations with them.
Science and Social Studies: In Science, our exploration has covered diverse topics like animal adaptations, energy and magnets, Earth’s systems, natural disasters, and the water cycle. Meanwhile, in Social Studies, students will embark on an enriching journey through American history, beginning from prehistoric times. They will dive into the theories surrounding the earliest people to reach the Americas, studied Native American tribes, and explored the Age of Exploration. As the year progresses, we will delve into the colonies, preparing students for the upcoming study of the American Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States in fifth grade.
This school year will be a whirlwind of learning and discovery. Students are enthusiastic about continuing to expand their knowledge and skills while revisiting and reinforcing what they have learned so far. It will be a fantastic year of growth and exploration in fourth grade at Robles Elementary School, and we look forward to the continued success of our students.
