Robles Elementary All-Star Student of the Month
Camden P. - 4th Grade
Camden is an excellent student. He is friendly, kind, and helpful. He gets along well with all of his classmates, works hard, and always participates. He volunteers to plug in computers every day, is always happy to help struggling classmates, and never complains about being asked to do hard things. He always brings a positive attitude, and he shows kindness and respect for everyone around him, no matter the circumstances. He is a great candidate for student of the month! He shows everyone what it means to R.O.A.R.
Robles Elementary All-Star Staff of the Month
Marisol Escobar, Attendance Clerk and Monitor
We are excited to nominate Marisol for staff of the month. She started in a new role this year as the Attendance clerk and Monitor and has done so well. She is friendly and inviting to everyone that comes into the office. She supports the front office in attendance concerns and when Spanish communication is needed for our families. In addition she balances the monitor role supporting the teachers and staff with detention and collecting student statements. She covers the front desk and health office any time needed. She always has a positive attitude and approach to any situation. Furthermore, she is very reliable, almost never missing a day of work. She cares deeply about the success of our students and our staff. It is for these and many other fabulous reasons that she is our staff of the month for December.
Altar Valley Middle School All-Star Student of the Month
Miranda O. - 8th Grade
Modest and meek are the two adjectives that this student is known for. Although she may appear shy, she can make her group work on a project and delegate tasks with ease. She shows diligence and perseverance in every task assigned to her. She never complains about things as she accepts responsibilities, and always works hard to accomplish tasks independently or in a group. It is with great honor to have her in our class. Miranda exemplifies the SOAR and is a role model for her peers.

District All-Star Staff of the Month
Regina Moore, Bus Driver
I am pleased to nominate Gina A.K.A. the Chicken Lady for the staff member of the month. Gina demonstrates a very positive upbeat attitude daily. From greeting her kids everyday with a smile on her face and a friendly good morning or hello. She played a big role in getting our newest driver certified to join the team. She maintains the CDL records for all drivers keeping them updated with the state. She volunteers to drive all the sport trips. She is always ready and willing to help with special event setups, classroom moves and just about anything you ask of her. She definitely makes my new role much easier. So congratulations Gina and thanks for all you do for the kids and the schools.
District All-Star Student of the Month
Evelyn See, Federal Programs Specialist
It is with great pride that we recognize Mrs. Evelyn See as the January 2023 AVSD All-Star of the Month!
In her role as Federal Programs Specialist, Evelyn juggles many different responsibilities and she does so with a friendly attitude and a smile on her face. One of Evelyn’s roles is to oversee the recruitment and training of district volunteers. Need help with a bulletin board? Evelyn will find you a volunteer! Need support with making copies? Evelyn to the rescue! Need someone to work with small groups of students on basic Math and Reading skills? Evelyn will hook you up! Managing the volunteer program in AVSD is not easy but - as with everything she does - Evelyn makes it look easy.
In the last couple of years, Evelyn has taken a leadership role in organizing the distribution of food boxes to our families. Evelyn is involved in every step of the process, from ordering and picking up groceries to packing the food boxes to getting
them into the hands of our families. There have been many times when families were not able to come pick up their food boxes because they didn’t have transportation. Did those families go without a food box? No way… Evelyn delivered it to them herself. That’s just the kind of person that Evelyn is.
Perhaps Evelyn’s most important responsibility is coordinating our McKinney Vento Program, which supports our district’s homeless population. She is a master at gaining the trust of families who are going through the most difficult times imaginable and find it hard to trust anyone. Once she has their trust, she can help them by providing clothes, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies. She knows about every church, shelter, and social service organization in town and she connects our McKinney Vento families with these resources. She truly cares about these families and goes way above and beyond to support them.
It is for these reasons and many more that Evelyn See is the January 2023 AVSD All-
Star of the Month!
