Goals for Strategic Plan 2018
Goal #1a: Encourage Youth Participation:
By May 2021, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 10% youth participation.
By May 2023, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 12% youth participation.
By May 2025, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 15% youth participation.
Goal #1b: Encourage Returned Citizen Participation:
By May 2021, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 5% youth participation.
By May 2023, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 7% youth participation.
By May 2025, the Annual National Gathering will have a minimum of 10% youth participation.
Goal #2: Scholarships: By May 2025, the Annual National Gathering will be able to offer 100% scholarships (which include travel) to all applicants identified as youth, returned-citizens, conference organizers, in financial need.
Goal #3: Host Sites: Each year, the Conference Committee will have identified 3 years out for host sites of the Annual National Gathering.
Goal #3a: By May 2020, the Conference Committee will have identified the following: Local Benefits of hosting the ANG, FAQ sheet for Local Groups, Template Documents for Budget, Programming, Travel, Scholarship process, Updated timeline on the AVP-USA website/Intranet, Concrete ways that the Conference Committee can help the Local Group be successful.
The role of the AVP USA National Conference Committee is to provide support and person-power to the local conference committees that agree to host the AVP-USA Annual Gathering.
Specific tasks of the AVP USA Conference Committee are :
Site selection and contract
* Revise and circulate “Call for Conference Location Proposals” to AVP USA at large and at every conference. Encourage areas to submit proposals.
* Review proposals from regional groups to assure they meet the requirements of an AVPUSA Conference (See Call for Proposals)
Follows the attached timeline for site selection.
Host area/region/state shall be approved at least two years in advance at the annual conference
Review at annual meeting the contracts for upcoming conferences and make recommendations to Committee on Committees or President AVP USA in terms of negotiating and signing the contract. (See contract requirements and negotiation)
Budget oversight
* Review budget from local group and present for approval in coordination with the Treasurer and present to the Committee of Committees if necessary.
* Local committee submits request with appropriate receipts for payment with expense item assigned to an account in the budget to Treasurer directly.
*Assures that the Treasurer and local Committee present a final financial report of the conference within two months of conference end.
* AVP USA conferences shall function on a breakeven basis. Deficit spending is discouraged.
Program/conference recommendations
Makes recommendations on conference, for use by upcoming local coordinator, at final meeting during annual conference
Reviews conference summary of evaluations, which is completed by the past local coordinator
Contributes ideas for program to local committee on an ongoing basis.
Past Conference Chair regularly discusses program and conference progress with local coordinator in order to determine progress and need for assistance. When questions or problems arise, other members of the committee will be consulted or the AVP USA President or Committee on Committees.
