Thank you for making the choice to register your child for beginning strings at Pine Grove School. Registration information is below, but feel free to start here with some helpful links!

Demonstrations of the Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass

The most important factor when choosing an instrument is that your child LIKES the sound of their instrument! Please listen to each of the instruments in the video above to make sure that your child loves how their instrument sounds before they pick one!

Registration Steps

Step 1:

Registration is now CLOSED.

Please email Mrs. Kaela Crystal-Thurston with any questions at kcrystal@avon.k12.ct.us

Step 2:

AFTER REGISTERING YOUR CHILD,

Secure an instrument and all supplies (list of music vendors, as well as required and optional supplies below) in the fall. Most students need a 1/2 size instrument.

DO NOT OPEN THE CASE!

Step 3:

LABEL the case with your child's FULL NAME, and deliver the instrument to your child's school by Friday, September 5th.

Avon Beginning Strings Supply Checklist

Instrument "outfit" (with case, rosin, and bow) - Most beginning 4th graders need a 1/2 size instrument - DO NOT BUY ONLINE OR FROM EBAY/AMAZON
Shoulder Rest for violinists and violists (firm foam or Everest brand preferred) : ALWAYS KEEP SHOULDER REST IN/ATTACHED TO YOUR CASE
Rock-stop for cellists and bassists (to protect floors at home from end pin)
Wire Music Stand (for at-home practice, do not bring to school)
Electric Tuner (Optional)
Do NOT purchase a method book. The teachers will provide specialized instruction.
