About the Northern Region Middle School Festival
AMS Orchestra students are encouraged to consider auditioning to participate in the Connecticut Northern Region Music Festival and the Northern Region Middle School Honor Orchestra. This festival is a two-day workshop for outstanding middle school musicians in our part of the state. The orchestra is comprised of students from approximately 40 other school districts in the Northern and Northwestern parts of Connecticut. Students who perform exemplary auditions will be invited to participate in the festival. You will find information on this page regarding auditions for the 2025-2026 school year. Audition Information
Students interested in auditioning for the Connecticut Northern Region Orchestra must register with Mrs. Crystal-Thurston and submit the audition fee of $17 (Checks payable to Avon Middle School), as well as a permission form and waiver by Wednesday, October 1, 2025.Audition Materials: Audition Materials and Information can be found by clicking here. Be sure to read all information carefully, and be sure you are playing the assigned audition song for your instrument. Additional information can also be found on the CMEA Website. Festival Information
Students who qualify will be invited to participate in a two-day festival scheduled to be held on March 6 and 7, 2026. They will work with an outstanding music educator/conductor, and with other qualifying middle school students on the first day of the festival, and present a concert on the second day.
