We will be using Teams as a way to communicate with one another. It is also where we will meet during office hours and Video Conference Chats (for English I and English II students ONLY).
You can use Teams directly from you computer; however, you are HIGHLY encouraged to download the app on your tablet and phone, as well.
Follow the steps listed below to download Teams and log in correctly.
Downloading Teams to Your Computer
To find and download Teams to your computer, please follow these steps:
First, log in to your Colegia student account.
Once you are logged in, find the My Apps section on your Dashboard and click on the Microsoft Teams app.
Once the online version of Teams loads in your internet browser, click on the three dots next to your picture on the top right hand corner of the window.
Then, click Download the desktop app.
The Teams app will begin downloading to your computer. All you have to do now is finish the installation process. Be sure to follow the instructions you are given, carefully!

Logging in to Teams
You will be required to log in to Teams using your Colegia student email and password -- this is the SAME log in information that you use to log in to Colegia!
Username Example: ddusername@ais.colegia.org
Please note: If you already have a Teams account that you use for school, please keep in mind that you may NOT use this account to communicate with me. To ensure that I receive your messages and that I can contact you via video chat, it is mandatory that you use your Colegia student account.
Adding a Second Teams Account to Your Existing Account
If you already have an existing Teams account, you can add your Colegia account by clicking on your profile picture on the top right-hand corner of the window.
Next, click on the option to “Add another account”
On the next screen, sign in using your Colegia email.
Signing Out of Your Active Teams Account and Adding Your Colegia Account
If you are unable to add your Colegia account to Teams, you will have to sign out of your active Teams account and sign in with your Colegia student account, instead.
To do this, read the directions listed below, carefully:
Finding Me in Teams
1. Once you sign into Teams, you will see these icons on the left-hand side. Click on “Chat”.
2. Then click on the search box on top of the screen. Type in my name -- Desiree Weissman. My first and last name and picture will appear. Click on my name to message me or video chat with me.
To add me using your mobile device, scan this QR Code with your phone or tablet and you will be directed to a Teams chat with me.
Teams is where we will meet during office hours and Video Conference Chats (for English I and English II students ONLY).
Here is how to start a video call or chat message with me:
1. Video Call: Click on the camera icon on the top right to call me.
2. Chat Message: You can type a message into the chat at the bottom.
I will only be available on Teams during office hours.
If you send me a message outside of office hours, I will get back to you within 24 working hours.
If you try to video call me and I do not answer, please send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
PLEASE NOTE:
There are no office hours on weekends or teacher holidays. Preview your work during the week so that you can ask questions before the weekend.
When sending a message, be specific about the course and assignment. Include screenshots when possible.
Example: "Hi Desiree, I have a question about assignment 8.03 in English III..."
