The J-Term Mastery experience will offer students a substantial amount of time, space and flexibility within the school day to focus their attention on their Mastery pursuits. For those students who are enrolled in the Mastery Learning System, the experience will also offer students the chance to hit hyper-drive on their MLS project work. This is a space for Mastery students to feed their curiosity, to expand their knowledge, and to develop real-world skill in discovering and solving global-scale problems.
"To inspire a world of happier more meaningful lives."
The majority of the time in the Mastery program has been given to students to move their project forward. A few projects are included here.
For my project I am creating a digitally drawn timeline about different moments in history that have related to the theory of evolution through natural selection. When doing research on human evolution I realized that I knew about the different early humans and primates but I didn't know about figures like Charles Darwin who actually discovered the theory of evolution so I wanted to make a timeline about all of the different important events in the history of evolutionary theory. I included a few of the drawings I have made for the timeline.
Jean Baptiste Lamarck: The Giraffe Drawing
Charles Darwin: The HMS Beagle Ship Drawing:
1860 Oxford Evolution: Two guys on the Origin of Species Book who look angry
The Discovery of DNA and Genes: Scientists
Creationism and Evolution Co-existing: The pope and primate holding the Earth
The Discovery of Human Fossils: Two paleontologists digging fossils
On Friday, January 27, the Mastery students had the opportunity to showcase all of the projects they have been working on for the past couple of weeks. Click the arrows below to swipe through some pictures from the showcase!
