Sixth Form

Welcome to our Avanti Sixth Form It is with pleasure on behalf of the Trust, staff and students that I welcome you to our hard working, aspirational and inspirational family of learners. Here at Avanti I take great pride as Head of Sixth Form in helping students achieve above and beyond their potential. Above all, as Head of Sixth Form I believe in developing the personal qualities, character and integrity of our sixth formers, so that they have strong values, learn to respect themselves and others, and the world in which they live. These are the key values of our school: Educational excellence, character formation and spiritual insight.

We deliver high quality teaching and excellent pastoral care within the Avanti Sixth Form. We are committed to providing an inspirational school environment where boys and girls are encouraged to strive for excellence, can grow in character and integrity, and can develop their leadership potential. What makes Avanti Sixth Form distinctive is its values on the approach to education. We foster a spirit of inquiry and academic debate, balanced by good listening and social skills.

Overall, we want to integrate the intellectual curiosity nurtured in the classroom, the sense of belonging fostered within our whole school house system, and the desire for challenge. A supportive school community is essential for successful students. Avanti House Sixth Form students benefit from a multi-layered system of pastoral care to help them negotiate the challenges of academic life and the transition to adulthood. Our house system, form tutors, peer support, assemblies, and other support facilitate learning and personal growth. Avanti Sixth Form provides a regular programme of Personal, Social and Health Education through Avanti Life Skills sessions. These sessions involve external speakers and professionals who lead discussions on health, well-being and careers.

We offer a series of leadership development schemes for our sixth formers. These include Duke of Edinburgh Award, Sixth Form Society programme, a structured extension course for most academically able (run by Avanti Alumni), of which we nurture emerging leaders and challenge their expectations and abilities. In other words, we want Avanti School Sixth Form students to have the best possible preparation for the opportunities and challenges presented by life in the 21st century. I would like to personally welcome you to our open evening and would be delighted to organise personal visits to our school during the working day.
