Music Theory - 10, 11, 12

Music theory is desgined to help students build on their understanding of Western music. It is also used to help students who are not planning on studying music in college to test out of a music class upon their accpetance into a college or university. Students will expolore note reading, rhythms, chords, melodic and harmonic structures, and composition. Music theory is also offered as an AP seminar for students looking to attain college credit. This class can be taken by all students at Fitch.

Psychology of Music - 9, 10, 11, 12

Understanding the world around us through the lens of psychology can be a daunting task. Adding the sub-field of music to the conversation adds more inquiry and need for study. This is where the psychology of music comes into play. Students in this seminar will read scholarship relating to the psychology of music and participate in active debate on the literature. They will also perform experiments of family memebers, colleagues, and teacher to prove points about the psychological impacts music has on humans.
