The Pre-/Post-Assessment Measure is a state approved method of measuring student growth through a Pre-Assessment administered in the beginning of instruction, and a Post-Assessment at the end. Growth is measured by the percentage of students who meet growth from pre to post-assessment. Testing Guidelines can be found HERE
The Pre-/Post-Assessment Measure makes up 15% of the PPfT Summative Score and is calculated based on the percentage of students who met the growth target. Additional Pre/Post guidance can be found in the 24-25 Support Guide HERE.
The Pre-/Post- data will be submitted and approved in the Student Growth section of their current PPfT Appraisal Plan in HCP (in the “My Appraisals” tab). Appraisal plans can be found in the "My Appraisals" tab in the HCP shown here:
Pre/Post Process
The step by step instructions that follow are designed to walk teachers through each step of the new Pre/Post process.
Watch this video to walk through of the steps ---->>>
Step 1: Teacher
Teachers will utilize data to identify an area of need in at least one the sections they serve as teacher of record.
It is recommended to use the appropriate content area YAG/scope & sequence as guidance.
Step 2: Teacher
Austin ISD Pre/Post Teacher Created Resource Bank
Teachers have an option to select an assessment or create their own. See options below:
Select an assessment from the Austin ISD Pre/Post Teacher Created Resource Bank to use to monitor a year’s* worth growth for students.
Teachers may create their own assessment following Pre/Post guidelines (plus provide a cover and answer page) AND needs to be approved by appraiser.
*All teachers will follow YEARLONG timeline unless,
- they only teach semester courses (fall or spring timeline)
- they are using MAP (fall only)
- teachers without rosters with extenuating circumstances
Step 3: Teacher
Teachers, force a copy of the Google Sheet “Pre/Post Tracker” - HERE
Name your tracker using the following format:
"Last Name First Initial Pre/Post Tracker 24-25"
In the "share" settings add your campus administrators as editors. The link needs to be anyone with an Austin ISD email address as a viewer to preserve the record.
Step 4: Teacher
Go to ERP and download the roster for the course and section you will use for your Pre-/Post-Assessment Measure. Add/Copy the students to the tracker in the appropriate Growth Measure tab for accurate calculations:
1/2 Growth (Standard)
Attainment (PK4, K)
Multi-tiered (Pacer, MAP, CLI)
1/3 Growth (SPED/Intervention ONLY)
Step 5: Teacher
Administer the Pre-Assessment during the window - See Timeline HERE
Enter the Perfect Score (orange box) from the Cover Page: enter as number, not as a percent
Record scores in the google Pre/Post Tracker.
Once all scores are added, save the Tracker as a PDF.

Step 7: Appraiser
Appraiser accesses the HCP → under the Student Growth container:
Reviews & Acknowledges the following Pre/Post components:
teacher responses
roster validity (student enrollment)
pre-assessment scores
Step 8: Teacher
Teacher administers the Post-Assessment to EVERY active student on their roster during the window and records scores in Pre/Post Tracker.
Teacher can add comments in Pre/Post Tracker about individual students or enter “wd” for withdrawn.
Teacher saves PDF of Tracker.
If a student has withdrawn - enter “wd” and list exit date in teacher comments
If the teacher wants to request an exemption for a student - they still need to test the student, enter the post-score, check the box and leave teacher comment to explain rationale for the exemption request. If a student cannot test during the post-test window, enter a "0" and request an exemption.
DO NOT EDIT APPRAISER OR EMPLOYEE EFFECTIVENESS COLUMNS.
Only add information to the highlighted yellow columns.
