7TH & 8TH GRADES

Chorale Gold (CHOIR MS GIRLS 2 & 3)

is a year-long advanced auditioned class for 7th or 8th grade girls at Covington who have been in choir before. This class focuses on advanced vocal techniques, music literacy, & performance skills for the developing female singer with an emphasis on 2 and 3 part singing. Chorale Gold is required to perform in the Fall, Winter, Pre-UIL, UIL Contest, & Spring concerts. They also have the opportunity to participate in TMEA Region 18 MS Choir Contest in October.

Concert Tenor-Bass (CHOIR MS BOYS 2 & 3)

is a year-long class for 7th or 8th grade boys at Covington who may or may not have been in choir before. Prior musical training is not a prerequisite to be in Colt Chorale. This class focuses on fundamental vocal techniques, music literacy, & performance skills for the changing male voice with an emphasis on unison & tenor/bass singing.  Colt Chorale is required to perform in the Fall, Winter, Pre-UIL, & Spring concerts. They also have the opportunity to participate in TMEA Region 18 MS Choir Contest in October and All City Tenor Bass Festival. 

Concert Treble (CHOIR MS GIRLS 2 & 3)

is a year-long class for 7th or 8th grade girls at Covington who may or may not have been in choir before. Prior musical training is not a prerequisite to be in Concert Treble. This class focuses on fundamental vocal techniques, music literacy, & performance skills for the developing female singer with an emphasis on unison & limited part singing. Concert Treble is required to perform in the Fall, Winter, Pre-UIL/UIL Contest, & Spring concerts. They also have the opportunity to participate in TMEA Region 18 MS Choir Contest in January, & to perform at UIL Choir Contest in March/April.

6TH GRADE

Beginning Treble/Tenor Bass (CHOIR MS GIRLS/BOYS 1)

A year-long class for any 6th grader who joins choir at Covington. This class focuses on fundamental vocal techniques, music literacy, & performance skills for the inexperienced singer with an emphasis on unison & limited part singing.  6th graders are required to perform in the Fall, Winter, & Spring concerts. They also have the option to participate in the All City Honor Choir.
