All about Mrs. Hively
Librarian
Librarian
I am proud to be a founding member of Baldwin Elementary School! I've been here since we were assembling furniture and launching our amazing school on that hot August day in 2010. I've been privileged to teach both Special Education for 6 years and 5th grade English Language Arts & Social Studies for the past 7 years here at Baldwin. This is my 4th year as librarian.
I hold a bachelor's degree in theatre from Texas Tech, a Master's degree in counseling from St. Mary's, a Master's degree in education from Texas State, and a Master's of library science from Sam Houston State University. I love to learn new things!
I have a wonderful husband and two grown sons -- Jackson works as a District Executive for Scouting America and Jacob is a live-streaming engineer for Riot Games in Seattle. We love to travel, see movies, & go kayaking. I love spending time with my kids, my pets, reading, gardening, and volunteering with Gold Ribbon Rescue.
As a lifelong avid reader and writer, I am blessed to help each Bobcat find books they love and discover the adventure of reading!

Certified Therapy dog
Meet Lucky, the newest member of the Baldwin library team! Lucky is Mrs. Hively's personal dog and is a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. He is a six-year-old Golden Retriever who has gone through extensive training and testing to become certified.
Lucky loves people! He will serve as a reading assistance dog. Classes will spend time with him in the library, and teachers will have an opportunity to sign up individual students to practice their reading with Lucky.
Lucky was rescued by Gold Ribbon Rescue in 2024 and became Mrs. Hively's foster dog -- soon to be a foster fail! He came from a tough background, but all his struggles never dampened his sweet, golden heart. He loves to do therapy dog visits, outings around town, and take long naps.
Please know that safety measures are carefully observed in accordance with ATD rules. If your child has a fear of dogs or a severe allergy that would prevent them from spending time with Lucky, please reach out! He and I want to make this opportunity successful for every student.
