Complete the Mandatory Orientation (& Remind.com sign-up) by Sept 22.
MEL (MyEconLab) is the online study aid that accompanies the Miller text. You can earn up to 19 points in each MEL chapter consisting of Homework Assignment: 8 points, Video Assignment: 3 points, and the Chapter Quiz: 8 points. For four chapters in each UNIT the Total MEL points add up to 76, however, 75 points are considered 100%, and all four UNIT MEL points are considered 100% if you reach 300 points (4x75). MyEconLab is required, not optional.
Chapters 2, 3, 7, 8, and 16 have associated IAs (Interactive Learning Module Assignments) which allow you to earn extra credit while getting extra practice tailored to your specific needs. You can earn a total of 16 points from the 8 available IAs (2 points each).
These are ungraded practice questions. You will be given 3 tries, then the system will tell you the correct answer. When you finish, the system will tell you which sections of the chapter you need to focus your study time on.
Each question will have a panel of Learning Aids to the left of the window. These Learning Aids include
Help Me Solve This - Guided Solutions take you step by step to the correct answer
eText takes you to the page of the text where the information covered by the question is presented even if you did not purchase access to the eBook.
Graphing - allows you to draw a graph of the question to help find an answer.
Ask My Instructor - emails the question to me, so I can help you with it.
These are graded question sets, but you will be able to take these assignments over and over again until you get them right, though re-takes are limited by the assignment deadline. After the due date, you lose 1% for each day the assignment is late. Each chapter has 20 homework questions. Learning Aids are available on Homework assignments as well.
Animations and Interactives are graded sets that include animated graphs from the text, extra video lessons, and extended problem sets designed to help you work through the problems. Deadlines and late penalties are the same as all other chapter assignments.
Quizzes are graded assignment sets similar to the Homework sets. Each chapter will have 20 quiz questions. No Learning Aids are available on quizzes while you are working on them, but you will be able to review the graded questions after the deadline with the help of the Learning Aids.
You will be allowed three attempts on the quizzes (same as for online UNIT exams). However, unlike the online UNIT exams, the highest grade will be used. You will lose 1% for each day the assignment is late.
You have 90 minutes to complete a quiz.
The Results page will give you your scores on each assignment, as well as your overall average. You must go to the RESULTS page in MEL to review your answers to the Homework Assignments and Quizzes.

All Chapter Quizzes and Homework assignments have due dates.
You will be able to do the assignments for credit after their deadlines have passed, but lose penalty points.
Deadlines for the Homework Assignments and Quizzes on MyEconLab can be found in a separate webpage with a link in the left column on top of this page named DEADLINES (with current semester), and I strongly recommend you print it out and put it somewhere very visible.
The points you earn on MyEconLab will exactly equal the points you record on the "My Grades" page on the course's ACC Blackboard site. But there is sometimes a timing lag or other errors creep into the transfer from MEL to BB. Please take this into account when BB requires prerequisites related to MEL grades, and don't hesitate to contact me if you find any discrepancies.
