Complete the Mandatory Orientation (& Remind.com sign-up) by Sept 22.
There are four ways to improve your grades by earning extra credit points. The total number of extra credit points possible is equal to 161 points of the 1000 points upon which letter grades will be determined. (In other words, there are actually 1161 points available in the course. Letter grades will be assigned based on the 1000 point scale as discussed on the grades webpage.)
You can earn extra credit points by taking your exams on or before the initial testing deadlines.
You will earn 10 points for each Unit exam taken on or before its deadline. You will not lose these extra credit points if you take the re-test for that unit after the deadline. if you only take the COMPETENCY EXAM for a UNIT, you will also receive 10 points of extra credit if it is taken before (or on) the deadline for the UNIT exam.
If you take the Final on or before its deadline, you will earn 20 extra credit points. This also applies to the COURSE COMPETENCY EXAM, but you can only earn the 20 extra credit points once.
The total number of extra credit points you can earn by taking the exams on time is 60. This is equivalent to 6% of Total Points available (1000) from tests, the final, and required MyEconLab assignments.
Chapters 9, 18, 32, and 33 are not assigned and will not be covered on any UNIT EXAM on Blackboard or on the Final Exam.
For extra credit, two small tests over these chapters will be made available on Blackboard. Each of these exams is worth up to 40 points or 4% of the course grade-- in total 80 points of 8% of 1000 points.
Extra Credit Assignment 1 Exam covers chapters 9 and 18. You must complete the associated MyEconLab assignments with at least a 65% score to take it.
Extra Credit Assignment 2 Exam covers chapters 32 and 33. Students must complete the associated MyEconLab assignments with at least a 65% score to take it.
You must make 65% or better on these exams to earn any points on them. For example, if you make 80% on one of these Extra Credit Assignment Exams, then you will receive 32 extra credit points: 80%*40=32. If you make 64% on one, then you will earn zero extra credit points.
The deadline for completing these extra credit tests is shown in the table below
The Orientation Quiz on the course's ACC Blackboard site is mandatory. Regardless you earn extra credit by taking and submitting it. There are twenty questions on this quiz asking for your contact information (three questions) and about the course's syllabus. Information about topics this quiz will ask about can be found at Orientation
Five extra credit points are available for taking this Orientation Quiz. You need to answer at least 16 of 20 questions correctly (or earn 4 points) to pass the orientation
Chapters 2,3, 7, 8, and 16 have associated IAs (interactive assignments) - a total of 8. Chapter 2 has three and chapter 7 has two IAs, all other chapters have one IA. These IAs are a great opportunity for you to practice concepts in-depth and earn extra credit while doing it. They mostly cover concepts students find harder to apply. You can receive up to 16 points for the IAs (2 points each).
